Freedom Wars Remastered: How to Make Strong Weapons

Quick Links

Freedom Wars Remastered plunges you into a dystopian future where you, a Sinner, battle monstrous Abductors to protect humanity. To survive, you'll need to upgrade your weapons and accessories, boosting their stats and adding powerful modules. This allows you to significantly enhance your combat capabilities, moving beyond relying solely on mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide explains weapon and accessory upgrades in Freedom Wars Remastered.

How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered

Weapon upgrades become available after reaching Level 002 Code Clearance in the main story. This unlocks the Facility Management Function via the Personal Responsibility Portal, granting access to the Weapon Development Facility. Here, you manage your weapons, upgrading them using resources and Entitlement Points. Reducing the upgrade cost is possible by enlisting the help of a Citizen, each offering varying reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. The process is simpler than it sounds.

Before upgrading, you'll preview the stat changes. The Weapon Development Facility also lets you add Elements, experiment with Modules and Module Slots. To reach higher weapon Grades, purchase the necessary permits from the Claim Entitlement tab in the Window of Liberty.

Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?

Early game missions often yield low-Grade weapons. While Zakka in The Warren sells weapons, they're mostly Grade 1, making upgrading crucial for survival. A CODE 3 Exam even requires claiming higher Grade Development Facility Permits. These permits enable you to upgrade a weapon of your choice, allowing you to focus on improving a single weapon and donating lower-grade finds for reduced sentences and more Entitlement Points.

Upgrading unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with more tied to the system, appealing to trophy hunters. The damage difference between weapon Grades is substantial, making upgrading a worthwhile investment of time and resources.

Note that the Ability Development Facility, also within Facility Management, unlocks later in the game.
