Gameplay Details:

Fireboy and Watergirl are trapped in mysterious temples and must collaborate to escape. Players can take turns controlling each character or attempt simultaneous movement. The most fun, however, is playing with a friend, each controlling a character.

Each level requires navigating fiery lava and watery pools. Fireboy is immune to fire but vulnerable to water; Watergirl is immune to water but vulnerable to fire. Both must avoid spikes. The goal is to reach the color-coded exit doors (red for Fireboy, blue for Watergirl), collecting matching colored diamonds along the way. Faster completion earns higher scores and rankings.

Gameplay involves activating lifts, pushing blocks, and manipulating switches to progress. Effective teamwork is essential, often requiring one character to hold a switch or platform to allow the other to advance, before finding a way to reunite. Some levels focus on speed, others on simultaneous movement, and some require collecting specific items. Each level concludes with a performance rating, allowing for replay and improvement.
