🌟 What’s New in Version 1.0.8?

  • Updated Target SDK to API Level 34
This update ensures full compatibility with the latest Android operating system standards, delivering improved performance, security, and stability across devices.

  • 🔧 Optimized Performance & Stability
Enhanced memory management and smoother transitions between time periods improve the overall flow of the narrative experience. Loading times have been reduced, especially during time travel sequences.

  • 🎮 Refined Input Responsiveness
Tweaks to touch and controller input sensitivity make navigation through the home and past memories more intuitive and emotionally grounded.

  • 🖼️ Visual Polish: Subtle Environmental Enhancements
Minor visual improvements to lighting, textures, and ambient details in key time periods (1950s Detroit, 1970s urban renewal, 2020s present-day) deepen immersion and emotional resonance.

  • 📚 Expanded Narrative Context (Optional Lore Layer)
New archival audio clips, family letters, and neighborhood maps are now accessible via the in-game “Memory Archive” — offering deeper historical context on redlining, displacement, and Black resilience in Detroit.

  • 🛡️ Enhanced Privacy Controls
Players now have greater control over data collection, with an opt-in prompt for optional analytics (used only to improve accessibility and user experience).

🎭 Why It Matters

DOT'S HOME isn’t just a game — it’s a reckoning. With this update, the Rise-Home Stories Project reaffirms its mission: to center Black lived experience, challenge dominant narratives about home and belonging, and invite players to ask:

"What does it mean to have a home when systems are built to deny it?"

By navigating the layered truths of her family’s history, players don’t just play the past — they feel its weight, honor its resistance, and carry its wisdom forward.
