Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 financial report unveils an exciting lineup of upcoming game releases, starting in late 2024 and beyond. Let's delve into the details.

Koei Tecmo's Upcoming Games

Koei Tecmo's Expanding AAA Ambitions

The report highlights Omega Force's development of "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a new tactical action game within the popular Dynasty Warriors franchise. This marks the first mainline Dynasty Warriors title since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9 (excluding the 2022 expansion). Launching in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), the game features a "Nameless Hero" during China's Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD).

Dynasty Warriors Origins

Beyond "Dynasty Warriors Origins," two other confirmed titles are slated for global release: "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" (October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC) celebrating the original's 20th anniversary, and "FAIRY TAIL 2" (Winter 2024 for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC), a sequel to the 2020 RPG.

The report also confirms Koei Tecmo is developing several unannounced projects, including at least one AAA title. This underscores the company's commitment to becoming a major player in the AAA game market, fueled by the continued success of "Rise of the Ronin," which contributed significantly to Q1 2024 console game profits.

A Focus on Consistent AAA Releases

Koei Tecmo's AAA Development Strategy

Earlier reports already showcased Koei Tecmo's ambition to establish a strong presence in the AAA space. The formation of a dedicated AAA studio, now actively working on its first project, exemplifies this commitment. The company aims to create a system for consistently releasing large-scale, high-budget titles. While details about the unannounced AAA game remain scarce, its existence further solidifies Koei Tecmo's strategic push into the premium gaming market.
