Paramount Pictures has reshuffled its release schedule, pushing back two major Nickelodeon films: The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both movies will now debut several months later than originally planned.
Variety reports that the eagerly awaited Avatar film centered on Aang has been moved from its January 30, 2026 date to a new premiere on October 9 of the same year. On a positive note, Paramount has revealed a fresh logo for the movie, shown below.
This change delays the release of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender by nearly nine months. It marks the second postponement for this follow-up to the beloved Nickelodeon series, which was initially slated to launch on October 10, 2025.
No official reason was given for today’s delay, though key voice actors such as Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam are reportedly still involved.
The film is expected to focus on the original Avatar protagonist, Aang, in a story set years after the series concluded. It was officially titled last month at CinemaCon and is the first installment in a planned trilogy set in that universe.
Also facing a delay is the highly anticipated sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2, which was announced just before the first film’s 2023 premiere.
Fans will have to wait considerably longer to continue the story of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. The release has shifted from October 9, 2026 all the way to September 17, 2027.
That means nearly another year before seeing how the story unfolds from the first movie's intriguing mid-credits scene. While plot and casting details remain scarce, the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series will help bridge the gap for fans.
