- Brotato welcomes Evil Empire as its new developer
- Evil Empire previously managed DLC development for Dead Cells
- They are launching strong with a brand-new mob joining the roster!
Fans of both Dead Cells and Brotato share an unusual connection, as DLC creator Evil Empire is set to assume control. This roguelite bullet heaven, known for its starchy theme, will introduce a fresh enemy to celebrate the transition as development passes into new hands!
Dead Cells enthusiasts will immediately recognize the name. Evil Empire assumed long-term stewardship of this hit roguelike, including crafting the beloved Castlevania DLC. Established specifically for extended secondary development cycles, they are now applying that expertise to Brotato.
Those with doubts need not worry, however, as Evil Empire is hitting the ground running with a new mob called The Gobbler. This creature will traverse the battlefield, devouring (as expected) Material along the way. As it grows increasingly plump, the rewards for finally popping it become even more substantial!

Skeptics might view this with a critical eye, but Evil Empire has years of development experience under their belt. If anything, their exceptional work on Dead Cells sparked such mass outcry upon announcing their departure that it proves their capability.
This is somewhat unusual in mobile gaming, where developers typically update releases for much longer periods. However, it also signals Brotato's success; original creator Blobfish Games evidently believes Evil Empire will better satisfy the existing fanbase.
Whether top-tier or not, Brotato remains part of a recent surge in exciting bullet heaven titles. If you are looking for more games inspired by this smash hit, check out our list of the best mobile games like Vampire Survivors!
