Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 appears poised to skip a Nintendo Switch 2 launch, even though Microsoft signed a “binding 10-year legal agreement” to bring the franchise to Nintendo platforms.
In 2023, as Microsoft worked to secure regulatory approval for its Activision Blizzard acquisition, the company pledged to release future Call of Duty titles on Nintendo systems simultaneously with Xbox, ensuring “full feature and content parity.”
The agreement means Nintendo gamers would “experience Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation players do,” Microsoft stated at the time. Call of Duty has been absent from Nintendo consoles since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U.
However, according to credible leaker billbil-kun (via Dealabs), Black Ops 7 is scheduled to launch on November 14, 2025, for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. While a Switch 2 version may arrive later, it currently won’t debut alongside Nintendo’s new console.
Following the official announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in June, both Activision and Nintendo indicated they were collaborating to bring the iconic first-person shooter franchise to Switch. Activision told IGN, "We’re committed to launching the franchise on Switch. Both teams are working on it and will share details when ready."
Separately, billbil-kun noted that the Xbox versions will include a physical disc release, contrasting with Microsoft’s recent digital-only approach.
As for pricing, Black Ops 7 is reportedly set at 79.99 euros, suggesting a $69.99 U.S. price tag. In July, Microsoft confirmed it would not sell holiday titles like Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds 2 for $80, after earlier hints of price increases beyond $70. This reinforced expectations that Black Ops 7 would stick to the $70 standard, which billbil-kun’s report appears to confirm.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be officially unveiled on August 19 during Opening Night Live at gamescom. More details are expected then.
