In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, The Tournament is an exhilarating quest that not only serves as a great source of XP but also rewards you with the "Test Your Might" trophy. Here’s a detailed guide on how to unlock, find, and conquer The Tournament, ensuring you get the most out of this thrilling challenge.

How To Unlock and Find The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

To unlock The Tournament in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, you need to meet Gyoji, a resident of Yamato. After you've taken down several members of The Shinbakufu, Gyoji will be waiting outside your hideout to discuss the tournament. Head to the Southeastern part of Yamato to the Ominesanji Temple, where this secret fighting arena is located. Make sure to synchronize at the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint to the west of the temple; this creates a fast travel point that will make revisiting the area much easier, and allows you to switch characters if needed.

Once at the Ominesanji Temple, speak with Gyoji again. He'll explain that you must win four one-on-one duels before facing the ultimate champion. After the cutscene, ring the bell to start your first fight.

How to Complete The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Tournament is a high-stakes gauntlet where you'll engage in intense, life-or-death battles. Fortunately, you can take breaks between fights, so make sure to heal with rations and upgrade your weapons and armor as needed. Ring the bell to trigger each subsequent fight.

To succeed in these battles, we recommend using a long katana as Yasuke, focusing on dodging and parrying to exploit the fighters' vulnerable states. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when you have enough adrenaline. Understanding each opponent's weapon can give you an edge:

  • Lady Masago uses a Naginata.
  • Lord Suguru uses a Katana.
  • Lord Hokuto uses a Kanabo.
  • Lady O-Sen wields two Poison Katanas and throws ranged items.
  • Lord Unkai uses a Naginata and can heal if you stay too far away.

After defeating all challengers, speak with Gyoji again on the hill. He will express his gratitude and mention future tournaments. The "Test Your Might" trophy should unlock during this conversation.

Best Loadout and Skills for Tournaments in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

For The Tournament, the Long Katana is your weapon of choice. Use the highest rarity Long Katana you have and upgrade it at your hideout’s blacksmith. Engravings that boost Armor Damage or Armor Piercing are highly beneficial. Your armor selection is crucial as well, not only for increasing your health but also for the combat-enhancing engravings they provide.

Before heading to the tournament, unlock the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend by defeating The Ox, a Shinbakufu leader. Also, earn the Protector’s Armor by completing one of the Castles. The Samurai Daimyo Armor boosts your damage by 75% but limits your health to 25%, while the Protector’s Armor allows you to parry unblockable attacks. Combining these engravings makes you a formidable force, capable of defeating tournament enemies in under a minute if you parry effectively.

Invest your Mastery points in the Long Katana and Samurai skill trees. Max out Combat Expert to enhance your melee damage, and unlock Power Dash and Payback to dominate your opponents.

*Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S from March 20th. Dive into the world of Yamato and test your skills in The Tournament for an unforgettable gaming experience.
