In the mid-2010s, the three-season run of Daredevil gave viewers a gritty look at the underworld of Hell's Kitchen, earning its place among the most critically acclaimed Marvel series ever made. Its abrupt cancellation by Netflix in 2018 came as a major surprise to fans.
Although Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has since made cameo appearances in more lighthearted MCU entries like She-Hulk and Spider-Man: No Way Home, few anticipated the superhero would star in another solo television series. Yet, the Man Without Fear has in fact been "Born Again"—and while the series now calls the family-friendly Disney+ its home, Marvel has assured audiences it will deliver more intense action and edge than ever before.

What Is Daredevil: Born Again About?
Daredevil: Born Again serves as a continuation of the 2015 Daredevil series, with most characters and storylines carrying forward. While its precise placement in the MCU timeline is still unclear, since his solo Netflix series Charlie Cox's Daredevil played a major role in The Defenders, alongside smaller parts in She-Hulk and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Daredevil’s main adversary, Wilson Fisk, also resurfaced in the Disney+ series Echo.
IGN recently explored Frank Miller’s original “Born Again” comic book storyline, which inspired the new show’s title—though the series will not be a direct adaptation. Here is Marvel’s official synopsis for Daredevil: Born Again:
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with superhuman senses, fights for justice through his busy law practice, while former crime lord Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) advances his political ambitions in New York. As their past lives begin to resurface, both men are set on a path that leads directly to one another.
Will There Be a Season 2?
Daredevil: Born Again was initially conceived as a single 19-episode season. In keeping with modern streaming trends, that story has now been split into two parts. The first season consists of nine episodes, while the second season will complete the original narrative arc with another nine installments. A release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
What About the Rest of 'The Defenders'?
Daredevil was originally a key member of The Defenders, a team-up series that followed Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. With Daredevil’s return, there is speculation the other Defenders may reappear. For now, Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation has only confirmed they are “exploring” the possibility in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
