First Deadlock update of 2025 is surprisingly small

Author : Benjamin Apr 15,2025

Valve has returned from their New Year break, and game developers are once again rolling out exciting updates. After Deadlock announced its departure from the bi-weekly update schedule, many anticipated a substantial patch. However, Valve chose to kick off the year with a lighter touch.

The latest patch focused on a single hero, Yamato, who received a modest nerf. This included a reduction in damage scaling and a decrease in the attack speed bonus at the initial level of Shadow Transformation. Other abilities like Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot were also weakened, while Alchemical Fire saw minor adjustments.

With this smaller update, it seems we'll need to wait a bit longer for a more comprehensive patch. At this stage, predicting when that might happen is challenging.

It's important to mention that Deadlock has seen a decline in its player base recently. This drop might be attributed to the popularity of Marvel Rivals among gamers. However, for a game in the depths of beta, maintaining a consistent online player count between 7,000 and 19,000 is a respectable achievement. Keep in mind, Valve has not yet disclosed any release dates or specifics about the game's monetization model.
