Elden Ring Player Will Fight Messmer Daily Until Nightreign Releases

An Elden Ring player's unique challenge: conquering Messmer the Impaler daily until Elden Ring: Nightreign launches. This dedicated gamer, known as chickensandwich420, is documenting his impressive feat.

A Daily Grind: No-Hit Messmer Battles

Elden Ring Player Will Fight Messmer Daily Until Nightreign Releases

Instead of passively awaiting the release of the co-op spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign, chickensandwich420 devised a challenging self-imposed task: defeating Messmer the Impaler daily on NG+7, using a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless no-hit victory.

This ambitious undertaking began on December 16, 2024. Initially, he planned to tackle various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies limited his time. Messmer, the notoriously difficult antagonist from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, presented the perfect, albeit grueling, challenge. Players commonly report needing 30 to 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal gear.

However, chickensandwich420 has set a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, he'll shift his focus to other games. This means potentially over 160 consecutive days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his epic Messmer challenge before Nightreign's release remains to be seen.
