PlayStation Productions at CES 2025: A Wave of Game Adaptations

At CES 2025, PlayStation Productions made a splash, announcing several new game adaptations for film and television. The announcements, made on January 7th, 2025, included projects based on popular PlayStation titles.

New Adaptations Unveiled:

• Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime: A new anime series, a collaboration between Crunchyroll, Aniplex, and PlayStation Productions, is set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition, and Sony Music providing the soundtrack.

• Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 Films: Film adaptations of Horizon Zero Dawn (produced by Sony Pictures) and Helldivers 2 (produced by Columbia Pictures) are currently in development. Details remain scarce.

• Until Dawn Film: A film adaptation of Until Dawn is slated for release on April 25, 2025.

• The Last of Us Season Two: Neil Druckmann unveiled a new trailer for The Last of Us season two, confirming the adaptation of the TLOU II storyline and the introduction of characters like Abby and Dina.

PlayStation Productions' Track Record:

PlayStation Productions, established in 2019, has already delivered several successful adaptations:

• Uncharted (2022): A film adaptation starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake.
• Gran Turismo (2023): A film based on the popular racing simulator.
• Twisted Metal (2023): A Peacock series that completed its second season in late 2024 (release date pending).

The studio also has several projects in the pipeline, including films based on Days Gone and a God of War TV series, along with a sequel to the Uncharted film.
