Godzilla Joins Fortnite This Week

Summary

  • Fortnite is adding Godzilla to the game as part of Version 33.20, scheduled to launch on January 14.
  • The monster may appear as an NPC boss alongside King Kong.
  • Two Godzilla skins will be unlocked for Battle Pass owners on January 17.

Fortnite has already pitted players against a variety of giant opponents, and now the iconic Godzilla is set to rampage across the Island later this week. Epic's highly successful multiplayer online battle royale game has hosted numerous crossovers, allowing fans to unlock special Fortnite character skins themed after popular characters like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wonder Woman, and even the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.

In Chapter 6 Season 1, Fortnite is adding the legendary Japanese cinematic monster Godzilla to its roster of guest characters. A playable skin based on Godzilla's supercharged Evolved appearance from last year's "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire" will be available starting January 17. The King of the Monsters' upcoming debut in Fortnite has sparked discussions about potential future skins featuring other famous Godzilla designs, as well as humorous remarks about Fortnite becoming the video game equivalent of the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

As any Godzilla fan knows, it's only a matter of time before the reptilian behemoth unleashes another destructive rampage. Fortnite players will experience Godzilla's fury later this week. According to Dexerto, Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1's Version 33.20 will launch on January 14. While no official start time has been announced, Epic typically initiates server downtime at 4 AM PT, 7 AM ET, and 12 PM GMT to prepare for updates.

Fortnite Version 33.20 Launch Date

  • January 14, 2024

Much of the new content in this update will focus on the Monsterverse, with footage of a giant-sized Godzilla stomping through the Fortnite game world featured in a recently shared trailer. Godzilla might not be the only Kaiju on the Island, as a decal referencing King Kong can be briefly seen on a passing car. Rumors suggest that Kong may join his longtime nemesis as a Fortnite boss during Chapter 6, following the already-confirmed Godzilla crossover.

Fortnite has seen its fair share of devastation from characters like Galactus, Doctor Doom, and The Nothing over the years. Now, players must brace themselves for another calamity, this time courtesy of Godzilla. Once the dust settles, fans might see additional TMNT characters join the game in the coming year, along with a much-anticipated Fortnite crossover with Devil May Cry.
