The protagonist, Hou, son of the village chief, celebrates his first successful hunt, only to have his world shattered by a devastating attack on his village. This sets Hou on a journey with Hisui (his servant, harboring a mysterious emotional suppression), Shirin (his childhood friend, possessing a strong sense of justice), and Shapur (a former general turned butler), to restore peace.
