To catch Ditto in *Pokemon GO*, you first need to be aware of its latest disguises, which can include a variety of different Pocket Monsters. Ditto's ability to transform into other creatures has been a unique feature in the game for years, similar to newer additions like Zorua. As the disguises change over time, we've compiled the most current list for you.

As of March 2025, Ditto can disguise itself as Bergmite, Bidoof, Goldeen, Gothita, Koffing, Numel, Oddish, Rhyhorn, Solosis, Spinarak, and Stufful. These disguises are visually represented in the image above. If you encounter and catch any of these Pokemon as regular wild spawns on your in-game map, there's a chance it might actually be a hidden Ditto.
To catch Ditto in *Pokemon GO*, you'll need to catch it in its disguised form. After capturing, it will revert back to its original Ditto form before you get to the catch screen, where you can decide to keep or transfer it. You'll know you've successfully caught a disguised Ditto when you see an "Oh?" pop up over your PokeBall, followed by the caught Pokemon transforming into Ditto. That's when you'll have the elusive, gooey-looking Pocket Monster in your collection.

How Rare is Ditto in Pokemon GO?
Even with knowledge of its latest disguises, Ditto remains relatively rare in *Pokemon GO*. However, there's a key indicator to look out for: Ditto's low CP. When transformed, Ditto's CP is usually lower than that of the Pokemon it mimics. For example, if you're a Level 50 Trainer, Ditto's maximum CP would be around 940, while Goldeen's max CP is approximately 1302. Keeping an eye out for Pokemon with lower CP can increase your chances of identifying a Ditto in disguise.

How Rare Is a Shiny Ditto in Pokemon GO?
In *Pokemon GO*, the chance of encountering a Shiny Ditto in the wild is 1 in 64, making it extremely rare. Not only do you need to find a Ditto by identifying one of its disguises, but you also need additional luck for it to be a Shiny. To boost your chances, you can use items like Incenses and Lure Modules to increase overall spawn rates, hoping that some of those spawns will be Dittos, possibly even Shiny ones.
Even without extra PokeCoins for additional items, you can use your free Daily Adventure Incense to briefly enhance your chances of encountering a Ditto, or a Shiny Ditto, during its 15-minute duration.
