On November 26, 2024, The Pokémon Company International shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, celebrating the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.

The event, broadcast live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured prominent internet personalities including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. Over 24 hours, this trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, accumulating over 20,000 cards—a figure confirmed by the official Pokémon press release.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, "It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title."

The celebration continues! The Pokémon press release promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The cards collected will be organized and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Launch

Released November 8, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, the central location of Pokémon SV’s The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.

Iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex also make appearances. The expansion features Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards, such as Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, showcasing serene ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add excitement to players' decks.

This expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
