If you've been keeping up with global game releases, you might be disappointed to learn about another title that's currently unavailable outside of Japan. Medabot Survivors is set to launch on February 10th, bringing the beloved robot role-playing franchise back to mobile devices. Unfortunately, it's only available in Japan at the moment.
As reported by Gematsu, Medabots might ring a bell for those of us who grew up in the wake of Pokémon's massive success. During that time, there was a significant push to introduce various Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to the West. While Digimon gained considerable popularity (some might argue it even surpassed Pokémon), Medabots never quite managed to capture the same level of attention here. However, back in Japan, Medabots has remained a powerhouse franchise, enjoying much more popularity than it ever did in the West.
It's no surprise then that Medabot Survivors is venturing into the Survivors-like genre, which has been gaining traction globally. Although this new game is a treat for Medabots fans, it's currently exclusive to Japan, leaving international fans eagerly waiting for a potential global release.
The Survivors-like genre, while popularized by Vampire Survivors, has roots that extend far beyond that single game. The launch of Medabot Survivors is not only exciting for fans but also a noteworthy development as we observe this genre's global expansion. Having followed the gaming scene in Japan, I can confirm there are numerous excellent titles that may never reach international audiences. However, if Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that it might eventually make its way to other regions.
