Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. The first game drop of the year, "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25, promising to enhance the Overworld with updates that make biomes feel more immersive and alive. Players can look forward to new variants of cows, pigs, and chickens, along with ambient features like glittering firefly bushes, falling leaves, and the whispers of sand, adding depth and life to their exploration.
The second game drop, yet to be named, introduces a new block called the Dried Ghast. This unique block can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling, a smaller, baby version of the ghast. With care, the Ghastling can evolve into a Happy Ghast, a new mob variant that players can harness to fly, accommodating up to four players at once. This feature not only adds a new dimension to travel but also offers strategic advantages in Survival Mode, akin to having Creative Mode capabilities.
A significant visual upgrade, 'Vibrant Visuals,' was also announced. This update, described as the first step in realizing Mojang's vision for a transformed visual experience, does not affect gameplay but enhances the game's aesthetics. In addition, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed live event, set to begin on March 25. Players can participate in this event in Midport Village, joining Steve and movie characters to defend the village from a piglin attack through three mini-games. The event runs until April 7, with participants able to earn the Yearn cape by completing all challenges.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about their stance on future developments: no plans for a Minecraft 2, no shift to a free-to-play model, and no use of generative AI in game development.
