Monster Hunter Wilds PC Benchmark Released, System Requirements Lowered

With Monster Hunter Wilds launching in just weeks, Capcom has unveiled a PC benchmark on Steam, allowing players to assess system compatibility. Simultaneously, the official PC system requirements have been reduced.

The benchmark tool, available now on Steam, requires shader compilation upon initial launch but is otherwise straightforward to run. This is particularly useful given the updated system requirements.

Previously, achieving 1080p at 60fps (with Frame Generation enabled) demanded an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT GPU; an Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU; and 16GB of RAM.

However, the updated requirements, found alongside the benchmark, are significantly lower:

Recommended (1080p/60fps with Frame Generation):

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit) / Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 / Intel Core i3-12100 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Graphics Card (GPU): GeForce RTX 2060 Super / Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB VRAM)
  • Storage: 75 GB (SSD required)

According to Capcom, these specifications should deliver a smooth 1080p/60fps experience with Frame Generation. The reduction represents a notable decrease in hardware demands.

Early benchmark results suggest improved performance compared to the beta, particularly with Frame Generation. Steam Deck compatibility remains uncertain, however.

Another significant change is the reduced storage requirement. The game now needs 75GB of SSD space, down from the previous 140GB. This is a surprising reduction given the typical increase in game file sizes.
