Bethesda has officially launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, delighting fans with a stunning update to this classic RPG. During their recent livestream, the developers proudly showcased significant enhancements over the original version. However, a notable absence of official mod support has stirred some disappointment among the community.
According to Bethesda's support page, Oblivion Remastered will not feature official mod support, a decision that comes as a surprise given Bethesda's long-standing support for modding in their games. Previous titles like Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield have all benefited from official modding tools, known as Creation Kits. Despite this, the dedicated modding community has already begun using the old Creation Kit designed for the original game to ensure their favorite mods continue to work seamlessly with the remaster. Discussions and tips are being shared actively on platforms like Reddit, especially as the game now operates on Unreal Engine 5.
Interestingly, within just three hours of its release, fans have taken to experimenting with Oblivion Remastered in VR using UEVR, a tool that converts games for VR compatibility. YouTuber LunchAndVR shared an early test video on their channel, demonstrating the game running smoothly in VR at 70 fps with medium graphics settings, DLSS enabled, on a powerful setup featuring a GeForce RTX 4090 and Intel Core i9-13900 with 64GB of RAM. These initial tests suggest that with further adjustments, Oblivion Remastered could offer a promising VR experience.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (also accessible through Xbox Game Pass), and PC. For the latest updates and more information on the game, be sure to check out our detailed article below!
