Pokémon GO consistently delivers exciting monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the ever-popular weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a boosted shiny rate. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming event.

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week's featured Pokémon are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, doubling your chances for shiny encounters! Both offer significant combat advantages, especially when you need extra damage.

With two Pokémon in the spotlight, prepare for a flurry of activity. Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense to maximize your catches and shiny hunting potential. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage – you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode with 50 candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch when needed.

As an Electric-type, Voltorb takes increased damage from Ground-type moves (160% damage) and reduced damage from Electric, Flying, and Steel types (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (both Electric-type), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack power. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!

Hisuian Voltorb (#100, also Kanto region) shares Voltorb's stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack), tradeability, and transferability to Pokémon HOME. Catching it also gives 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Hisuian Electrode using 50 candies. While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ slightly.

Hisuian Voltorb's weaknesses include Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while it resists Grass, Steel, and Water types (63% damage) and other Electric types (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt, providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather conditions enhance its damage output. This Pokémon has a black Shiny variant.
