Pricing and Availability

You might notice that this game is priced higher than the typical video games you're used to. This is due to Nintendo's pricing strategy for Switch 2 games, which varies. The original game was priced at $69.99, and with the Switch 2 enhancements, an additional $10 is added. While I understand the enhancements, the price increase is something to consider.

Upgrade Pack Options

This edition includes the original Switch game along with the Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. If you already own the original game for the Switch, you can purchase the upgrade pack separately for just $10, which is a great way to save some money.

For those who are Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members and already own Tears of the Kingdom, the upgrade comes at no additional cost. It's included in your subscription, making it a fantastic perk for members.

What is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

Play

This package offers the full original The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game, along with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. This upgrade enhances performance, providing faster frame rates, quicker load times, and improved resolution and textures. In essence, the game looks and runs better on the Nintendo Switch 2 than it ever did on the original Switch.

From our original 10/10 review of Tears of the Kingdom: “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an unfathomable follow-up to one of the greatest games ever made, somehow improving upon it in nearly every way – be that with simple quality-of-life improvements, a genuinely exciting story, or wildly creative new building mechanics that make you rethink what is possible. It both revamps old ground and introduces vast new areas so immense it somehow makes me wonder if Breath of the Wild was actually all that big, with an almost alarming number of tasks to complete, mysteries to discover, and delightful distractions to keep you from ever reaching that place you naively thought you were headed. Nintendo has followed up a triumph with a triumph, expanding and evolving a world that already felt full beyond expectation and raising the bar ever higher into the clouds.”
