"Silksong Confirmed for Release, PR Manager Assures"

Author : David May 13,2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to be a topic of eager anticipation among fans, and recent updates have provided some much-needed reassurance. Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, has confirmed that the game is not only real but also actively in development, putting to rest any doubts about its existence.

This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real

Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin

Following the buzz around a cake-themed profile picture change by Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen, speculation about Silksong's status soared. Fans speculated about everything from an ARG to a potential announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, when YouTuber fireb0rn reached out to Griffin, the excitement was tempered. Griffin clarified that the cake was merely a harmless change and nothing more, apologizing for any confusion. Yet, he reassured fans by stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release," marking the first update in over a year and a half.

This confirmation comes after a period of silence since the game's delay was announced in May 2023. Originally set for release in the first half of 2023, Team Cherry decided to postpone the launch, explaining that the game had grown significantly and they wanted to enhance it further. Silksong promises to take players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and feature an innovative difficulty mode called Silk Soul.

Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History

Since its announcement in February 2019, fans have been waiting nearly six years for Silksong. The game's delay and subsequent lack of updates have led to mixed reactions. While some fans are grateful for any news and encourage Team Cherry to take their time, others are growing impatient, feeling that the updates provided are insufficient for a project of this magnitude.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is planned for release on multiple platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game will follow Hornet, the protector of Hallownest, on her perilous journey through a new world to reach its peak. Although a specific release window remains undisclosed, fans are urged to stay tuned for further updates and announcements.
