Silksong Confirmed for Original Switch Release as Scheduled

Team Cherry has confirmed Hollow Knight: Silksong will still launch on the original Nintendo Switch as planned. Learn why fans were concerned about the game appearing in the Switch 2 presentation and view newly revealed images from Nintendo's Japanese website.

Silksong Will Launch on Original Switch System

Developers Confirm Switch 1 Version Still Coming

When Silksong briefly appeared during the April 2 Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, many players feared it might skip the current console generation. Originally announced in 2019 for PC and Switch 1, the game later expanded to PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

Team Cherry's marketing lead Matthew Griffin addressed these concerns via Twitter on April 8, confirming the title will release for both Switch and Switch 2. While official details about version differences remain unconfirmed, the Switch 2 iteration will likely feature enhanced resolution and hardware optimization.

The new marketing materials and Direct appearance suggest a release date announcement may be imminent. Recent updates to Silksong's Steam listing have further fueled speculation about a 2024 launch window.
