The Sims Turns 25!
Exciting Events and Free Rewards

The Sims commemorates its 25th anniversary with a range of events and rewards for players, including in-game freebies, a celebrity-filled livestream showcasing top Simmers, and the re-release of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 for PC.
“Our passionate community has shown that The Sims brings a unique life-simulation experience, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone together,” said Kevin Gibson, Production Director for The Sims, in an interview with Xbox Wire. “From its groundbreaking debut at E3 25 years ago to today, we’ve connected with generations and impacted millions of lives.” He emphasized that the support of players since 1999 has been vital to the franchise’s success.
“Every Simmer, across all playstyles and over the years, has contributed to this 25-year journey, and this is our way of expressing gratitude.”
The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 Return

In a major highlight, players can revisit the origins of the franchise. To celebrate the 25th anniversary, The Sims and The Sims 2, including all their DLCs, are now available for purchase on Steam or the EA store, either individually or as part of a Birthday Bundle.
This is a significant moment for Simmers, as these early titles were largely inaccessible to the public for nearly a decade. Even with physical copies, running them on modern computers required complex tweaks. EA has now released updated versions compatible with today’s systems, fulfilling a long-standing wish of the Sims community.
In-Game Events for The Sims 4 and The Sims FreePlay

The Sims 4 introduces the Blast From The Past event, reintroducing iconic clothing, furniture, and decor from earlier games. Over four weeks, players can unlock items like vibrant neon inflatable chairs in green or pink, a three-tier cake, a glowing dance floor for parties, and retro wired phones.
Meanwhile, The Sims FreePlay’s Birthday Update transports players to the 2000s with new Live Events like “The One with the Coffee Shop” and “Reality Island,” a stylish velour tracksuit, daily rewards for 25 days, and a Social Town update featuring a museum celebrating the history of The Sims.
25-Hour Livestream Celebrates 25 Years

The anniversary kicked off with a 25-hour livestream on February 4, featuring celebrities, streamers, beloved builders, and storytellers united by their love for The Sims. Notable guests included Doja Cat, rapper Latto, drag queens Trixie Mattel and Katya, YouTubers Dan & Phil, Plumbella, TikTokers Angelo & Lexy, virtual streamer Ironmouse, and more.
Fans who missed the livestream can watch the full recording on The Sims’ official YouTube or Twitch channels.
