- Sonic Rumble will kick off with an exclusive pre-launch crossover event
- Iconic Sega characters from Altered Beast, Fantasy Zone, and Super Monkey Ball are joining the battle
- Some characters will be free to unlock, with others available as premium in-game purchases
Though the global launch isn't until May 8th, Sonic Rumble is wasting no time introducing its first crossover event. Rather than bringing external franchises, the game celebrates Sega's legacy by featuring legendary characters from across its history.
Interestingly, this limited-time event will run before the official worldwide release, currently accessible in soft launch regions. From now until May 7th, players can claim the Werewolf from Altered Beast as a free character.
SEGA Star Event Pass subscribers unlock additional characters: the Weredragon (also from Altered Beast) and Opa-Opa, the original mascot from the arcade hit Fantasy Zone.
Special Bonus ContentThe event expands further with Upa-Upa and Werebear available through the in-game Ring Shop, while Super Monkey Ball's AiAi and MeeMee can be found in the Red Star Ring Shop.
Pre-release events like this are uncommon, offering early adopters exclusive content. This crossover appears to be just the beginning, with Sega hinting at a full slate of planned collaborations for Sonic Rumble.
