On April 9, Sega confirmed via Twitter/X that Sonic Rumble will launch globally on May 8, 2025. The announcement was accompanied by an exciting new trailer showcasing vibrant gameplay.

Marking the franchise's debut as a multiplayer party game, Sonic Rumble features frenetic battles for up to 32 players across diverse courses. As Sega describes: "Players choose their favorite Sonic characters to navigate Dr. Eggman's treacherous toy-themed obstacle courses and combat arenas."

While questions surfaced about potential pay-to-win elements in this free-to-play title, director Makoto Tase clarified during Tokyo Game Show 2024: "Our focus is on affordable direct purchases rather than randomized gacha mechanics."
