Spider-Man 2 Hacked: PC Release Compromised

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's PC launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store was notable for its lack of pre-order or pre-download options, resulting in a massive 140GB download. This absence of early access proved to be a significant factor in the game's rapid cracking.

Within an hour of release, pirates had acquired and cracked the game, highlighting the relatively weak anti-piracy measures in place. Sony's understated marketing campaign and the late release of system requirements further contributed to this outcome.

Despite this, Spider-Man 2 debuted strongly, currently holding the seventh position in Sony's top Steam releases, trailing behind titles like God of War, Horizon, and Days Gone.

Initial player reception, however, is mixed. At the time of writing, the game holds a 55% positive rating based on over 1,280 reviews. Optimization issues, crashes, and bugs are frequently cited concerns.

Spider-Man Remastered remains the undisputed PC champion in terms of concurrent players, having once peaked at over 66,000. Whether Spider-Man 2 can achieve similar heights remains to be seen, but its current sales trajectory suggests a promising future.
