Netflix Games' Squid Game: Unleashed Gets a Release Date and a New Trailer

Squid Game: Unleashed, the upcoming mobile game adaptation exclusive to Netflix Games, has a release date: December 17th. A new trailer showcases the bloody action players can expect. The game will be available for iOS and Android.

Netflix's track record with adaptations of its original series is mixed. While some, like the Stranger Things pixel-art adventure, have been successful, others haven't resonated as widely. However, Squid Game: Unleashed, with its focus on action and violence, is poised to appeal to a different audience.

The game pits players against friends and strangers in the iconic, deadly competition from the show, but with a more playful twist. Whether this approach is successful remains to be seen, but it clearly aims to leverage the immense popularity of Hwang Don-hyuk's original series.

Featuring classic scenarios from the show alongside new additions, Squid Game: Unleashed could be a major win for Netflix. Its launch just before the December 26th premiere of season two is strategic. Pre-registration is open now!

ytCalamariThe irony of a show about the dehumanization of individuals and the exploitation of their deaths for entertainment being adapted into a multiplayer battle game is undeniable. However, from a purely objective standpoint, it's a logical move. This adaptation suggests Netflix recognizes the potential of a dedicated multiplayer audience to retain user engagement, even if some streaming content fails to connect.

While you wait for the game's release, consider checking out other recent releases. Jack Brassel's positive review of the relaxing gardening simulator, Honey Grove, is worth a look.
