Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's innovative foray into the Star Wars universe, will cease operations just over a year after its launch on iOS and Android in June 2024. This mobile game, which combined game show elements with fresh interpretations of Star Wars archetypes, captured the attention of fans upon its release.
The closure of Star Wars: Hunters is scheduled for October 1st of this year, and a final content update is slated for release on April 15th. In preparation for the shutdown, Zynga has announced that in-game currency can now be refunded, and certain seasonal events will be rerun as part of an extended Season Three.
Fans eager to experience the final hunter, Tuya, will have the opportunity to play with this character in multiplayer mode. Tuya will be introduced in the final content update and will be available to all players for free from the start.
The End of Star Wars: Hunters
The announcement of Star Wars: Hunters' closure came as a surprise to many, with no prior indications of underperformance. Given Zynga's robust standing in the industry, it's likely that other factors influenced the decision to discontinue the game. One possible reason could be the saturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre and a mismatch with the current demographic of Star Wars fans, who are increasingly older and may not be seeking a high-energy multiplayer mobile experience.
