Saber Interactive has reassured fans that all previously announced projects, including the much-anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake, remain in active development. Despite the lack of updates on high-profile titles like KOTOR, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to social media to affirm the studio's commitment to its announced games.
"Saber Interactive stands as one of the world's largest independent developers," Willits stated. "We are diligently working on a diverse range of games across multiple genres. Rest assured, everything we've announced is still being developed. We will share more details as soon as we have exciting updates."
This statement follows closely on the heels of the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, underscoring Saber's active development slate. The KOTOR remake, announced in 2021, has been a particularly elusive project, having changed developers several times and seemingly paused and restarted development. Despite these challenges, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the game was part of the studio's portfolio following its separation from Embracer Group and remains in active development.
"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch stated at the time. "It's been mentioned in the press numerous times. What I can assure you is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to surpassing consumer expectations."
Willits' recent statement reinforces Karch's earlier comments, yet fans are still awaiting any new footage or updates on the KOTOR remake beyond its initial announcement video.
In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive is working on several other titles slated for release in the near future. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are both scheduled for 2025, though specific release dates have not been set. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. With the recent addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their lineup, Saber Interactive continues to expand its diverse portfolio.
