Upcoming Game is Like a Western Version of Stardew Valley

Cattle Country: A Wild West Farming Sim Coming to Steam

Fans of Stardew Valley and cozy life sims will find much to love in Cattle Country, an upcoming Steam game currently available for wishlisting. While sharing the satisfying gameplay loop of building a successful farm and earning money, Cattle Country adds a unique Wild West twist.

Developed by Castle Pixel (creators of Rex Rocket and Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince), Cattle Country marks their first foray into the farming sim genre. The game's Steam description bills it as a "Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim," promising a familiar farming experience with a fresh, western setting. Expect to build a mountain home, contribute to the development of your town, and forge friendships with quirky villagers – all key elements of the cozy life sim formula.

What Makes Cattle Country Stand Out?

The game's most striking feature is its Old West setting. The reveal trailer showcases a charming blend of classic farming activities, like tending to cattle under a campfire's glow and traveling in a horse-drawn wagon, alongside more action-oriented scenes. Another video on the Steam page depicts thrilling events like a Wild West shootout and a bare-knuckle brawl in a rustic arena. Mining is also featured, presented in a 2D style reminiscent of Terraria.

Despite its unique setting, Cattle Country retains many familiar farming sim elements. Players will plant and harvest crops, protect them with scarecrows, chop down trees for building materials, and participate in town festivals. These festivals appear to be inspired by Stardew Valley, but with a Wild West flair, including a Santa Claus visit and square dances.

While a release date remains unannounced, you can add Cattle Country to your Steam wishlist now.
