The release of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been delayed once more, now set to launch in October 2025. This latest delay, announced in a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, shifts the release a few months beyond the previously planned first half of the year. Despite the setback, there's a silver lining: the game is complete, and the team is now focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance to ensure the best possible experience for players upon release.
Executive Producer Marco Behrmann shared, “The status of the game right now is that the game is done. We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases.” This update, while another disappointment in a series of delays, also brings positive news. The Chinese Room has added more content, enhanced narrative depth, and improved character development since the last major update. Additionally, the character Fabien will have an "evolved role" in the storyline at launch. However, fans should note that updates will be less frequent going forward, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
The journey of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been fraught with challenges since its announcement in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs, with an initial launch window set for Q1 2020. The game faced its first delay to late 2020, followed by further delays to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021. A significant change occurred in 2023 when Hardsuit was replaced by The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, with the latest delay, the game is slated for October 2025.
While the future remains uncertain, The Chinese Room expresses confidence in delivering a compelling sequel to the 2004 cult-classic video game. Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful release, a different developer will take on the challenge of creating Bloodlines 3.
