SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a revitalized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG is reborn with stunning updated visuals, a streamlined user interface, and welcome controller support.
Originally released in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD, Vay was developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs. SoMoGa previously kept the game's spirit alive with a 2008 iOS re-release.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies and a dozen challenging bosses. Explore more than 90 diverse areas, each brimming with adventure. A standout feature is the user-selectable difficulty, catering to all skill levels.
The revamped version also includes an auto-save function for added convenience. Bluetooth controller support offers flexible play options. Players can acquire new equipment and items, while characters level up, learning powerful new spells. An AI system even allows for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war, the game unfolds on Vay, a technologically underdeveloped planet. A colossal, malfunctioning war machine crashed here, leaving a trail of destruction.
Players embark on a quest to rescue their kidnapped wife, a mission that could potentially save the entire world. The idyllic wedding day is shattered by an attack, and the bride is abducted. This sets the stage for an epic journey to thwart the destructive war machines.
Vay's captivating story blends nostalgia with modern enhancements. True to its JRPG roots, characters gain experience and gold through random encounters. The game features nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.
