Vin Diesel has revealed the scheduled release window for Fast X: Part 2 and confirmed the return of Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Conner.
The action star made an appearance at FuelFest in Los Angeles to announce the April 2027 launch of Fast X: Part 2, sharing some additional details. Diesel stated the franchise will return to its Los Angeles roots, refocus on street racing car culture, and bring together Dom (his character) and Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker's character).

Diesel's most recent announcement aligns with comments he made in 2023, when he hinted at a final tribute for the late Paul Walker's character. Walker, who tragically died in 2013 at age 40, was best known for his role as Brian O'Conner in the Fast & Furious series, appearing in 2001's The Fast and the Furious and, posthumously, in 2023's Fast X using archived footage.
Now, the key question is how Dom and Brian will be reunited in Fast X: Part 2. Walker had already completed filming some scenes for Furious 7 before his death in a car accident, and many fans feel the franchise has already given the late actor a fitting farewell.
Diesel's remarks about returning to the series' street racing origins for the final installment are a direct response to how extravagant the movies have become. While the earlier films centered on illegal street racing, recent entries have shifted into full-scale action spectacles, resembling something closer to G.I. Joe than a racing series.
Another point of discussion is the potential involvement of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. In January, Vin Diesel walked back a joke he made about Johnson while presenting an award at the 2025 Golden Globes. Diesel later posted an older photo of the two on Instagram captioned "All love... Always," after he playfully referenced their public feud during his presentation by saying, "Hey, Dwayne," which drew laughter from the audience.
Although they co-starred in Fast 5, Furious 6, and Fast and Furious 7—with Diesel as Dominic Toretto and Johnson as Luke Hobbs—a public disagreement emerged when Johnson referred to Diesel as a "chicken s**t" and "candy-ass" co-star.
Diesel later explained to Men's Health that this was a result of the "tough love" he applied "to help get that performance to the level it needed to be."
In 2023, Johnson posted on X/Twitter that he and Diesel had "put all the past behind us" and would "lead with brotherhood and resolve." He affirmed they "always take care of the franchise, characters, and fans that we love."
