In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio on January 25, 2025, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer announced his commitment to supporting the Nintendo Switch 2 by porting multiple Xbox games to the new platform. Spencer's foresight into Nintendo’s potential success with the Switch 2 led him to pledge support early on. He shared that he has been in direct communication with Nintendo's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, congratulating him on the upcoming console and expressing his appreciation for its larger screen.

"Nintendo's innovation and impact on the gaming industry are truly commendable," Spencer remarked. "I’m excited to support them with our games and believe they play a vital role in our industry."

Although specific titles weren't disclosed during the interview, Microsoft's existing 10-year deal with Nintendo, announced on February 25, 2023, by Microsoft president Brad Smith, ensures that "Call of Duty will be available to Nintendo players on the same day as Xbox, with full feature and content parity." This strategy aligns with Xbox's broader approach of bringing games like Grounded and Pentiment to rival platforms like the Switch and PlayStation, expanding its market reach. With the enhanced capabilities of the Switch 2, more Xbox titles are expected to be ported to this new console.

In the same interview, Spencer highlighted Xbox's ongoing efforts to develop new hardware, despite their strategy of porting games to other platforms. He emphasized the importance of creating games that are accessible across various platforms, stating, "The most successful games are those that run on multiple platforms, and Xbox aims to support those creators who want to reach players on every screen."

Spencer's vision for Xbox includes building innovative hardware that caters to diverse gaming experiences, whether on handheld devices, televisions, or other platforms. Xbox remains committed to making its games widely accessible while continuing to innovate in the hardware space.

Xbox Plans to Reach More Players on Various Devices

On November 14, 2024, Xbox Marketing senior director Craig McNary unveiled the new slogan, "This is an Xbox," which underscores the company's goal to extend its presence across a variety of devices. McNary explained, "This Is an Xbox invites people to engage with Xbox on multiple devices and screens, showcasing our evolution as a platform that transcends traditional boundaries."

The campaign humorously labels various items as Xbox, from a remote control to a cat box, emphasizing the broad connectivity of Xbox to different devices. To bring this vision to life, Xbox has partnered with companies like Samsung, Crocs™, and Porsche, creating engaging and entertaining marketing initiatives.

Xbox's approach contrasts sharply with its competitors, who often focus on exclusivity. Instead, Xbox aims to make its games available to as many players as possible across various platforms, fostering a more inclusive gaming ecosystem.
