New Xbox Game Pass Game Confirmed for January 21

Get ready for some snowy slopes! Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders hits Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, January 21st. While Microsoft's initial January 2025 Game Pass announcements were a bit light, the second half of the month is shaping up to be much more exciting.

The first half of January primarily saw some Ultimate-exclusive games transition to the Standard tier. Notable exceptions were the addition of Diablo to PC Game Pass and EA Sports UFC 5 for Ultimate subscribers. Although Microsoft hasn't officially detailed the second wave of January 2025 Game Pass additions, we know at least one more significant title is coming.

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders launches on January 21st as a day-one Game Pass title, initially available only to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. This cooperative and PvP-enabled skiing game promises thrilling gameplay.

But Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders isn't the only exciting day-one release in the second half of January. Following a slower start, January 2025's latter half boasts three additional day-one games alongside Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders: Eternal Strands (January 28th), Sniper Elite: Resistance (January 30th), and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (January 31st).

Among these, Eternal Strands, an action-adventure game from Yellow Brick Games (led by BioWare veteran Mike Laidlaw), stands out with its strong Zelda-inspired aesthetic. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can enjoy all these new January 2025 additions without extra cost.

February 2025 currently looks less packed for Game Pass. While Avowed is confirmed for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on February 18th, the rest of the month's lineup remains a mystery. Until then, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can enjoy Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, Eternal Strands, and the other day-one January releases.
