Bring Large Dung Pods

Facing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds can be a daunting task. Unlike most monsters that prefer solitude, Hirabami thrive in groups, which significantly increases the difficulty of the encounter. To manage this, bring Large Dung Pods to your battle. These pods are crucial for dispersing the monsters, allowing you to tackle them one at a time.

Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo

Hirabami's tendency to float in the air can be particularly frustrating, especially for melee weapon users. If you're wielding a ranged weapon like a Bow, you're in luck. However, for those using melee weapons, consider equipping Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo. This can be fired from your Slinger to bring Hirabami down to ground level. If you're out of ammo, aim to sever Hirabami's tail; it drops a Tail Claw Shard that can be converted into the necessary ammo.

Utilize Environmental Traps

The battle arena in Iceshard Cliffs is equipped with various environmental traps that can turn the tide in your favor. You'll encounter Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping any of these onto Hirabami can stun and inflict significant damage on the monster.

Aim for the Head

The head remains the most vulnerable part of Hirabami, but its aerial preference makes it a challenging target. Ranged weapon users have a clear advantage here, but melee users can still target the neck when Hirabami descends. Avoid attacking the torso, as it's heavily armored and less effective.

Watch the Tail

Hirabami's erratic movements make it a formidable foe. It often resorts to biting, spitting, or executing a dive attack from above. These attacks are relatively easy to evade if you keep an eye on its head. However, don't neglect its tail, which Hirabami uses like a hammer. Constant movement and vigilance are key when you're in its sights.

Capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds requires you to reduce its health to 20 percent or below, indicated by a skull icon next to its marker on the mini-map. Once you reach this threshold, deploy a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap to immobilize it. Act swiftly and use a Tranquilizer to knock Hirabami out before it can escape. Successfully capturing the monster will end the fight and grant you the standard rewards, though it may limit your opportunities to gather additional materials from its weak points.

That concludes our comprehensive guide on defeating and capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Remember to stock up on Large Dung Pods or utilize the SOS feature to simplify the battle.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
