An Adventure Full of Puzzles, Thrill, and Irony!

Synopsis:

Welcome to Moth Lake, a seemingly tranquil town that conceals a sinister secret beneath its serene surface. Only a group of troubled teenagers will unearth the mysteries that have been buried for generations. As mysterious events escalate on the eve of a solar eclipse, these young heroes embark on a journey into the shadows and the depths of their own souls.

What to Expect from This Game:

In Short:

  • 2.5D Pixel Art: Experience frame-to-frame animations reminiscent of the '90s.
  • Simple Controls: Compatible with touch screens, mouse, keyboard, and controllers.
  • Unconventional Puzzles: Don't worry, a free walkthrough is available if you get stuck!
  • Stealth-Action: Navigate through challenges with stealth and action.
  • Impactful Choices: Your decisions will affect character relationships and the overall experience, much like real life where choices can determine friendship, love, hate, life, or death.
  • Thrills, Suspense, and Horror: While not a survival game, expect moments that are creepy or downright scary.
  • Bad Humor and Strong Language: Reflecting the raw authenticity of teenage life.
  • Emotional Depth: Prepare for moments that might even bring a tear to your eye (just a pixel, right?).
  • 6 Different Endings: Multiple paths to explore.
  • Original Soundtrack: A compelling, suggestive, and thrilling musical experience.

In Detail:

Moth Lake offers a story-driven adventure, packed with over 20,000 words of text and more than 300 unique scenarios. The narrative takes you on an emotional rollercoaster through mystery, horror, and the intimate lives of the characters. While the game delves into dark and somber themes, it balances these with absurd humor and quirky dialogues, blurring the line between a horror and an adventure game.

In this 2.5D world, the main characters interact with numerous hotspots and NPCs, pulling objects and performing various actions to solve diverse puzzles. The modern pixel art boasts a vibrant color palette and extensive frame-to-frame animations, covering actions like talking, walking, running, crouching, crawling, pushing, climbing, sneaking, punching, and throwing.

The game's environments are enhanced with modern lighting and shading techniques, particle effects, and constant use of parallax to create a pseudo-3D experience. With six main characters and over 50 NPCs, each with distinct looks and personalities, players can control up to seven characters in the main story and more in additional chapters. Characters exhibit dynamic eye movements, facial expressions, and unique behaviors.

As the story unfolds, players must make choices that impact the characters' moods and, at times, the plot itself. Characters in a good mood will smile, perform amusing idle animations, and support each other, while those in a bad mood may show anger, insult their friends, and act selfishly. These mood changes can unlock hidden scenes, encouraging multiple playthroughs to uncover all the game's nuances.

Most of the time, players control a character surrounded by friends, each with unique skills and personalities that can be crucial to solving puzzles. Some puzzles require individual effort, while others demand team cooperation.

Moth Lake aims to evoke psychological horror, making it clear that this game is not for everyone. Expect disturbing scenes, moments of anxiety, and deeply sad sequences as characters confront their troubled pasts and navigate terrifying presents. They must hide, make tough decisions, and sometimes fight for their lives. However, your choices can lead to the best possible ending, and if you fail, you can always try again.
