It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has been leaked. While Sony has yet to confirm anything, rumors suggest that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, will be available as a free download for PlayStation players next month. The leaked key art hints at the possibility of it being the Until Dawn Remastered edition rather than the 2014 original, though we'll need official confirmation to be certain.
PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service for PlayStation platforms that offers a variety of benefits, including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. It also provides a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members, while the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.
Speculation from the PlayStation community on Reddit, as noted by PushSquare, suggests this move could be a promotional effort for the recently released Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn't meet expectations, receiving a 5/10 from IGN, with our review stating, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."
Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received a 5/10 from us, described in IGN's review as an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game from Supermassive Games earned a more favorable score of 7.5/10.
In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the service's library next month. This list includes notable titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party games Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Once these titles are removed, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
