The Samsung S90D, the latest 2024 model, stands out as one of the premier OLED TVs available, surpassing even the LG C4. It employs Samsung's proprietary quantum dot (QD) OLED panel, which offers superior brightness without compromising the color accuracy, range, and wide-viewing angles that OLEDs are renowned for. Compared to traditional LED LCD TVs, OLED TVs deliver unmatched image quality, near-infinite blacks, an almost infinite contrast ratio, and near-instantaneous response times.

Beyond its OLED technology, the Samsung S90D is packed with features perfect for gaming. It features a native 120Hz panel that can be overclocked to 144Hz, and comes equipped with four HDMI 2.1 ports, allowing you to enjoy 4K gaming at 120Hz on your PS5 or Xbox Series X. The TV also supports variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode, making it an excellent pairing for the newly released PlayStation 5 Pro console.

Samsung showcased several of its top models during CES 2025, though exact pricing remains undisclosed.

The new OLED TVs - the S95F, S90F, and S85F - feature several incremental upgrades over their predecessors. The S95F, Samsung's flagship model, boasts a new NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor, a faster 165Hz refresh rate, an improved anti-glare coating, and an upgraded QD OLED panel promising up to 2,000 nits of brightness. The S90F will also feature the Gen 3 processor, a 144Hz refresh rate with VRR, and a QD OLED panel with up to 1,300 nits of brightness (for TV models 55" and up). The S85F remains the "budget" OLED TV with a Gen 2 processor.

AI and Anti-Glare Tech Are the Highlights for Samsung

Samsung is heavily investing in AI technology for its 2025 models. Their new "Vision AI" can recognize the content you're watching, including specifics like actors or settings, and provide personalized real-time commentary. More models will feature AI Upscaling Pro and AI Motion Enhancer Pro to dynamically optimize image quality. Additional features include Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which uses AI to enhance voice clarity, AI Optimization, and AI Energy Mode.

Samsung is also introducing a matte-like anti-glare coating to many of its TV panels, similar to what we saw on the S95D in 2024. This coating minimizes reflections without desaturating colors, ensuring a superior viewing experience.
