If you're a fan of Made in Abyss, get ready for your next descent—this time straight into your mobile screen. Avex Pictures has officially announced a brand-new mobile game based on the critically acclaimed and deeply mysterious franchise. While fans have already explored the depths of the Abyss through manga, anime, and a 3D action RPG, this will mark the first-ever mobile adaptation of the series.
What Do We Know So Far?
The newly revealed title is called Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey. The announcement was made alongside the launch of the game’s official X (Twitter) account, which will serve as the primary channel for future updates and news leading up to its release.
At this point, details about gameplay are limited, but early reports indicate that it will be a casual mobile experience designed for easy access and play sessions. The game is set to launch exclusively in Japan, available on both Android and iOS platforms, though there has been no official statement regarding a global release just yet.
Diving Back Into the Abyss
Since its debut in 2012, Made in Abyss has captivated audiences worldwide. Originally a manga created by Akihito Tsukushi and serialized on Web Comic Gamma, the story centers around Riko, a determined young orphan living in the coastal town of Orth. Her world revolves around the enigmatic Abyss—a vast, seemingly bottomless chasm filled with ancient relics, bizarre creatures, and unfathomable dangers.
Riko’s dream is to follow the path of her mother, Lyza the Annihilator, one of the most renowned explorers who vanished deep within the Abyss. Along her journey, she meets Reg, a mysterious boy with a mechanical body and no memory of his origins. Together, they venture deeper into the Abyss, knowing full well the risks—but driven by curiosity, hope, and an unshakable bond.
This haunting narrative was adapted into a widely praised anime in 2017. In 2020, the sequel film [Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul] hit Japanese theaters. Then in 2022, fans were treated to a console and PC adventure with [Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness], developed by Chime Corporation.
