ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition's Impressive Debut: 3 Million Downloads in Three Weeks
ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, the free-to-play mobile spin-off of the popular ARK: Survival Evolved franchise, has achieved a remarkable milestone. Within just three weeks of its December 18, 2024 launch, it surpassed three million downloads on iOS and Android.
Despite receiving mixed reviews upon release, the game's popularity continues to grow, currently holding a respectable position in app store rankings. On iOS, it sits at 24th among adventure games, and on Android, it ranks 9th in the top-grossing adventure game category. While user ratings are currently 3.9/5 on the App Store (412 ratings) and 3.6/5 on the Google Play Store (over 52,500 ratings), the high download numbers demonstrate significant player interest.
This success follows the strong performance of ARK: Survival Evolved, which itself exceeded one million downloads before its official release. The original game's popularity led to a remastered version, ARK: Survival Ascended, released in early access in 2023. Grove Street Games, the developer behind ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, also previously developed the enhanced Nintendo Switch port of ARK: Survival Evolved in 2022, showcasing their consistent success with the franchise.
Publisher Snail Games highlighted the game's impressive launch, noting a 100% increase in downloads compared to the 2018 mobile port of ARK: Survival Evolved. Future updates are planned, including the addition of new maps like Ragnarok, Extinction, and both Genesis parts.
ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition's availability will expand further in 2025 with its release on the Epic Games Store. This follows Studio Wildcard's recent roadmap update for ARK: Survival Ascended and precedes anticipated news regarding the status of the much-anticipated ARK 2, which missed its projected 2024 release.
