Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a wealth of new features to enhance gameplay and keep the community engaged. From new game+ and additional difficulty settings to new story content, the future looks bright for fans of the stealth-action series.
In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, Ubisoft outlined their plans for 2025, with a detailed schedule for May and June. This roadmap promises a series of free updates that will keep players coming back for more, ensuring that Assassin’s Creed Shadows remains a dynamic and evolving experience.
The excitement begins in early May with the first free story add-on, "The Works of Luis Frois." Alongside this, players can expect a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements, including significant enhancements to parkour and a photo mode update. These updates reflect Ubisoft's commitment to listening to the community and incorporating their feedback into the ongoing development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released," said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. "Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."
In June, another free story drop will be released, accompanied by new challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to choose whether to keep headgear on or off during cutscenes. These features, eagerly anticipated by players, are just the beginning, with more to come, including new game+ support, additional story drops, and special collaborations throughout the year.
The highlight of the roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," set to be released later in the year. This 10-hour journey will introduce the Bo staff weapon and a new region for Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details are yet to be announced, this expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing the iconic stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan. Its successful launch has earned it a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and the title of the best-selling game of last month.
