The revival of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 (THPS3+4) saw Bam Margera added last minute thanks to Tony Hawk's personal request - though Hawk was quick to note he didn't pressure Activision. In a July 1 interview with Polygon, Hawk explained he pulled some strings to include his longtime friend.

When the initial skater roster was unveiled in March, fan disappointment arose over Margera's absence. His character had become iconic since originally appearing in THPS3 and THPS4, continuing through the Underground series.

While never officially confirmed, Margera's initial exclusion likely stemmed from his well-documented personal struggles. However, Hawk remained determined to include his fellow skating legend.

Some speculated Hawk had forced Activision's hand, which the skating legend denied: "I'm not dictating game decisions, but I recently reconnected with Bam and he's doing great - skating regularly." Hawk expressed gratitude that Activision accommodated his last-minute request.

The beloved secret character Officer Dick makes his return, as revealed June 26 via THPS' official YouTube channel. Jack Black not only reprises his Officer Dick role but also voices a new British counterpart - Constable Richard.

Speaking with Variety on June 25, Game Director Kurt Tillmanns explained their excitement about continuing THPS' tradition of celebrity cameos: "We adored Jack Black's involvement in THPS1+2 and wanted to evolve his character."

The Iron Galaxy team redesigned aspects of THPS3+4 specifically for Officer Dick's return. "Previously he patrolled school grounds - now he's ascended to campus security sheriff. We're thrilled Jack enthusiastically embraced this expanded role," Tillmanns added.

Potential Underground Remake Ahead?

With classic characters returning - including surprise appearances like Doomguy - Activision might consider revisiting the fan-favorite Underground series. Hawk acknowledged overwhelming fan demand, expressing willingness to support whatever makes players happy.

However, Hawk emphasized wanting to deliver more than nostalgia: "Updating with new characters, tricks, and levels excites me most - honoring our roots while evolving the experience."
