Weapon damage in NieR: Automata varies significantly with each swing. Upgrading reduces this damage variance while increasing the potential maximum damage.
The Iron Pipe boasts the game's widest damage range but also possesses exceptionally high potential damage. Its unpredictable nature makes it a gamble, but its power warrants acquisition. Here's how to find it:
How To Obtain the Iron Pipe in NieR: Automata
The Iron Pipe is a rare fishing reward found in sewers. Both sewers offer equal chances of obtaining it; the first is more accessible.
Fast travel to the Resistance Camp. Exit and follow the path right towards the Amusement Park. After crossing a small gap, you'll be under a highway. A manhole to the right leads down into the sewer.
Fish in the sewer water to attempt to obtain the Iron Pipe. Other junk items, sellable for money, may also be caught. There's no guaranteed method; it might take a few casts or several minutes. Use your Pod's light to improve visibility in the dark sewer.
Another sewer is located en route to the Flooded City.
