FromSoftware Concludes Elden Ring Server Maintenance

Author : Caleb Dec 31,2025

Elden Ring Nightreign developer FromSoftware has completed another round of server maintenance to enhance matchmaking functionality.

During the game’s launch weekend, FromSoftware acknowledged existing matchmaking problems in Elden Ring Nightreign and provided recommendations for affected players, such as restarting their matchmaking process and, especially on PlayStation 4 and 5, verifying their NAT type.

Following server maintenance on June 6, which aimed to "improve expedition matchmaking with an active Remembrance," online features have now resumed, and players are optimistic for a smoother experience.

“Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers,” stated FromSoftware. “Limveld awaits.”

Despite these early challenges, Elden Ring Nightreign sold 3.5 million copies within its first five days. While Elden Ring itself was a blockbuster, reaching 30 million sales since its 2022 launch, Nightreign is not expected to achieve comparable figures. For perspective, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold 5 million copies in just three days following its 2024 debut.

Nightreign’s user review rating on Steam has also improved from 'Mixed' to 'Mostly Positive.' Early criticism largely focused on the game's unforgiving solo play, absence of duo co-op, lack of voice chat, and other dated mechanics.

On Monday, however, FromSoftware released a patch to make the solo experience more approachable and confirmed that a Duos mode is in development.

What’s next for the game? FromSoftware mentioned that beyond the DLC slated for later this year, new content will be "rolled out gradually," including improved encounters against existing Nightlords beginning this month.

Earlier this week, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign shared that they had soloed every boss without using Relics, emphasizing that experiencing all content is "very possible."
