GOG introduces a groundbreaking new feature: one-click mod installation.
The PC gaming platform explained that since mod setups often require significant time investment, their One-Click Mods initiative streamlines browsing, installing, and playing mods with unprecedented simplicity. This led GOG to assemble a handpicked collection of premium mods, conveniently bundled with their respective games for seamless integration.
GOG emphasized that "mods play a vital role in preserving gaming history," enabling community creators to patch issues, restore deleted content like scenes and quests, and introduce entirely new fan-made experiences.
We're thrilled to bring Skyblivion to players later this year! Special thanks to our partners @GOGcom for enhancing accessibility. https://t.co/nxk8kXx7Qr

The current mod catalog features enhancements for Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete, Doom 3, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and Fallout 4. Heroes 3 gains expanded content including new factions and multiplayer improvements, while Fallout 4 players can instantly access Fallout: London's alternate British storyline.
Doom 3's Phobos mod offers a prequel storyline blending classic FPS gameplay with contemporary polish, and Vampire: The Masquerade's unofficial patch resolves longstanding developer oversights while restoring cut quests and dialogue.
Excitingly, the highly anticipated Skyblivion conversion mod for Skyrim: Anniversary Edition will join GOG's One-Click Mods lineup later this year.
Skyblivion represents TESRenewal's volunteer-driven effort to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion within Skyrim's engine. Despite Bethesda's own Oblivion remaster release in April, the company actively supports the project, even gifting remastered copies to Skyblivion's development team.
This initiative continues GOG's commitment to game preservation. Following last year's preservation announcement protecting titles like Resident Evil and The Witcher 2, it addresses growing industry concerns about digital-only titles becoming inaccessible, exemplified by Ubisoft's 2024 discontinuation of The Crew.
