Marvel Snap Relocates to New Publisher

The temporary shutdown of TikTok in the US on January 19th unexpectedly impacted Marvel Snap, the popular card game published by Nuverse (a ByteDance subsidiary). This disruption resulted in a 24-hour outage before the game's partial restoration. While the game is back online, in-app purchases remain unavailable.

This incident, stemming from the ongoing political uncertainty surrounding TikTok's US operations, has prompted Second Dinner Studios to explore a publisher change and internalization of some services. TikTok's 90-day extension to sell a 50% stake to a US entity leaves Marvel Snap vulnerable to future disruptions should the deal fail.

The sudden outage, without prior warning, caused significant frustration among players, particularly those who had recently made in-game purchases. While PC users via Steam could still access the game, many experienced authorization problems.

Second Dinner Studios, acknowledging the surprise and inconvenience, assures players via Platform X that Marvel Snap is here to stay and that they are diligently working to restore full functionality and provide updates. The statement emphasizes their commitment to resolving the issues as swiftly as possible.
