Mortal Kombat 1 Unveils Secret Fighter Linked to Iconic Rock Band

This week, Mortal Kombat 1 rolled out a significant update, thrilling fans by introducing Conan the Barbarian to the roster of fighters. Amidst the excitement, players stumbled upon an unannounced and delightfully surprising addition—a ninja dressed in pink, named Floyd. Though it might sound like a playful gimmick, Floyd is a legitimate secret fighter, adding an unexpected twist to the game.

Floyd serves as a walking homage to the legendary rock band Pink Floyd. His introduction cleverly references the iconic cover of "The Dark Side of the Moon," which illustrates the dispersion of light into a spectrum of colors. In gameplay, Floyd borrows moves from other iconic ninjas, such as Sub-Zero's freezing abilities and Scorpion's spear attacks. A fun detail is that Floyd boasts 1337 health points, a nod to the "leet" culture.

For long-time fans of the franchise, Floyd's inclusion evokes a sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of the original Mortal Kombat's secret fighter, Reptile. Like Floyd, Reptile was a challenging opponent whose moveset was a compilation of other ninjas' abilities.

Currently, the Mortal Kombat community is buzzing with efforts to unlock encounters with the elusive pink ninja. While Floyd's appearances seem somewhat random, he drops hints about the challenges players must complete to face him. However, a definitive method to trigger these encounters has yet to be fully confirmed.
